SMOKE ALARM -
Optical smoke detector to alert and wake you in case of smoke hazard. Most people who die in fires are overcome by SMOKE and are then incapacitated or so disoriented that they are unable to escape from the fire. The 120dB signal will awake and alert you while there is still time to escape, and the torch will come on automatically so you can quickly see the situation. Set this when you are staying anywhere that does not have trusted smoke alarms (camping hut, budget hotel, backpackers, etc). (Of course YOU already have smoke alarms at home, DON'T YOU!)

DISTRESS ALARM -
A piercing 120dB shriek signals your distress and discourages your attacker. If both buttons are pushed the alarm goes even if dropped or knocked out of your grasp. This can be heard up to 300 metres away and continues until reset or for up to 60 hours (that's almost 3 days!).

TORCH and SOS BEACON -
Full beam, half power, and SOS Strobe settings. Waterproof, it will float, and a little rain or weather won't kill it! The SOS Strobe gives high-visibility location at night or low-light. The STROBE setting will last for 100 hours (FOUR! days) and is visible for over 300m.

The FlareSafe has two independent battery systems, standard alkaline AA batteries for the normal torch usage and a long-life lithium battery for the emergency functions.
